After completing my poll experiment to find out what kind of music videos the larger audience was interested in I have decided to complete a more in depth survey to find out more about what people are interested in seeing.
The results I got were very interesting however; bearing in mind as the mass this would be a mainstream audience referring to no genre in particular.
The majority of my immediate audience are aged 15-21 with no younger than that and only two older. This means I should continue to analyse videos based around teenage/young audiences and put more research into the conventions of these videos.
Two thirds of the audience were female, although I knew that there would be a majority of that side anyway which is why I chose a song with a female audience.
The amount of downloads decreased with the amount downloaded. 5 people download 1 or less songs per week, 3 people download 2-5 songs per week and only one person downloads more than that.
The majority prefer videos with some elements with some type of performance. I was debating whether or not to include this so now I know I definitely will.
My audience also prefer realistic videos, probably so they can relate more. The main issue that my audience identified with was a relationship issue which makes sense considering it’s a young audience.
